Queensland Ship Surveyors Pty Ltd (QSS) is an independent marine surveying company. Our business is based in Cairns, Queensland, Australia and we service the North Australian, South Pacific and Queensland regions. Founded in 2002 by CEO/Managing Director Graeme Normington to help clients who needed marine survey inspections, insurance claim surveys, cargo damage surveys and all other numerous types of surveys required to be carried out in the marine and boating industries.

QSS is an independent marine surveying company providing a range of surveying services, from insurance claim reports to commercial surveys to condition and valuation assessments. The modern domestic and international airport in Cairns offers easy access to ports within our area of operation/s. If you require our services, we are available seven days a week, 24 hours a day by appointment. Clients are encouraged to

If you own or manage a vessel that does business in Australia and you need a marine surveyor please contact us as we would like to help. We are an experienced, reputable, and ethical provider of marine surveying services.

QSS undertakes surveys in Queensland Ports, Northern Australian Ports and all other Australian ports when requested to do so. We also service Papua New Guinea, and the Oceania Region. Although the list of regions above are the areas we predominantly work in, we will go to any location/s where our clients need our services. No region is too far for us to travel.

We believe that it’s imperative for reports to be issued to our clients promptly. Queensland Ship Surveyors has a policy that clients should receive their preliminary report within a timely manner (usually within 48 hours subject to location and internet accessibility) of attending the survey. We issue you with the full and final report as soon as possible.

Graeme Normington – CEO/Managing Director

The principal marine surveyor and founding director of the company is Graeme Normington. Graeme is an AMSA accredited Marine Surveyor and a Papua New Guinea NMSA Gazetted Marine Surveyor. Under the leadership of Graeme, Queensland Ship Surveyors has grown leaps and bounds, assisting countless clients with their marine surveying needs.

During a seagoing career spanning some 19 years, Graeme’s seagoing marine engineering career has encompassed fishing fleets, passenger vessels, bulk carriers (grab discharge and self-discharge) and product tankers.

Since founding the business, Graeme has grown the company, increasing the range of services offered to clients to include a comprehensive list of marine surveys.

Queensland Ship Surveyors is ready to assist clients with any marine survey and assessment. We are always expanding our services which include state-of-the-art Robotic/RPAS/UAV inspections. Our commitment is to deliver quality services in a timely, efficient and non-bias manner.
